The EU energy ministers meet in Åre on 24 and 25 July. The meeting will focus on the way out of the economic and climate crises, as well as on preparations ahead of the climate conference in Copenhagen in December. Sweden's Minister for the Environment Andreas Carlgren is hosting the meeting. Below, he gives us his view on the ministerial meeting. How can the economic and climate crises be solved? Which issues are considered the thorniest in this autumn’s climate negotiations? How will these issues affect the daily lives of people living in the EU?
Three major meetings will address the issue of eco-efficient economy during the Swedish EU Presidency: the informal meetings of energy and environment ministers in Åre on 23–25 July, and the informal meeting of competitiveness ministers in Umeå on 14–16 October.
