Greenpeace International: Greenpeace welcomes decision for an IPCC Special Report on renewable energy
Welcoming the decision of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to produce a new Special Report on renewable energy, Greenpeace energy expert Sven Teske said:
“The IPCC’s special report on renewable energy will not come a moment too soon. This independent and thorough assessment should provide further evidence that renewable technology can meet the world’s energy needs without fuelling climate change."
“Previous reports from the Nobel-prize winning IPCC have been hugely influential and this report is set to become the key reference document on renewables for governments and policy makers the world over. We hope that this report will convince governments to urgently invest in the real energy solutions.”
The IPCC is currently meeting in Budapest, Hungary for its 28th session.
